The new Express Scripts Pharmacy location in Florence, N.J.
The new Express Scripts Pharmacy location in Florence, N.J., is reason for celebration across the organization — not only because of the incredible technological advances featured in this facility, but because employees had a part in making the site a reality.
Florence is using equipment based on the cutting-edge technology similar to several of our other pharmacies, as well as designs invented or developed specifically for this highly automated building.
Staff Pharmacist Terry O'Reilly, along with the help of 50 to 75 pharmacy technicians, was able to design a new bulk-up station.
All of the suggestions, testing and feedback from employees led to a machine that helps technicians quickly sort and repackage pills for the high-volume filler. The station went through several months of alterations, and with each modification, the designers gathered additional input and process-tuning recommendations. Terry credits the technicians for driving this change.
"Each and every person who has shared a piece of information is important to the opening of this new pharmacy," said Lynda Doremus, director of Pharmacy Practice for the new site. "It's been a tremendous information-gathering experience, and all of the work we put into it will benefit other sites as well — it's an unprecedented opportunity."
